US delegation to visit Southern African Catholic Church

A delegation of two bishops and 8 lay people from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) arrived in South Africa on 29 August 2009. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick will join the delegation later, being asked to preside at Teddy Kennedy’s funeral. They’ll be visiting projects that they are funding in Southern Africa, until the 5 September 2009. On the first day of their trip, they met the heads of Departments of the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Khanya House, Pretoria. It was an opportunity to present the situation and the needs of the Catholic Church in Southern Africa.
