Bishop Sithembele strongly reminded the Faithful of Botswana, “The Church has a Universal Character.”

Bishop Sithembele Sipuka – SACBC Vice President

The Catholic Church in Botswana is not young but she is still growing strong.  For a long time Botswana had only one diocese of Gaborone. Later the she gave birth to a Vicariate of Francistown which is in the northern part of the country. During the year 2017, His Holiness Pope Francis elevated the vicariate of Francistown to become, for the first time, the Diocese of Francistown. During his homily in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Dessert in Francistown Bishop Sithembele strongly reminded  the faithful of Francistown that the Church is universal in character and it is not united on tribes, races or nationalities.
