The purpose of this workshop is to evaluate and assess the quality of translation in our SACBC region. It is also meant to empower translators with new translation skills and also help them on how to draw up a lexicon that is consistent with other liturgical books.

The workshop of this kind is normally organized annually by SACBC Department of Christian Formation, Liturgy and Culture. It is meant to monitor the quality of translation and promote consistency with other texts that have been translated before.

According to Sr Phuthunywa Siyali, the SACBC Coordinator for Liturgy, it is very important that proper translation should be done because the translated materials are used by many people. She also emphasises that it is good to be theologically correct and sound during translation of material to avoid misleading people of God.
