The Commission for Culture is at the service of the Dioceses in the promotion of matters of inculturation, healing and training within the territories of the Conference


  •  The official respondent of the Conference to the relevant Congregations and Councils of the Holy See and to related bodies of other Episcopal Conferences;
  • Explores with priests, religious and laity the deeper issues of inculturation especially within the scope of the Department, viz. Catechetics and Liturgy;
  • Fosters and brings about healing and reconciliation in the different spheres of society with special focus on the family;
  • Relates sensitively to the varying social contexts within the territory whether rural, urban or informal;
  • Promotes cultural research and develops programmes at the request of the Conference and in co-operation with diocesan bodies.


The Commission consists of the following:

  • the Episcopal Chairperson of the Department for Christian Formation, Liturgy and Culture;
  • the Episcopal Vice-Chairperson of the same Department;
  • the third Episcopal Member of the same Department
  • the Coordinating Secretary of the Department
  • the Secretary of the Commission
  • co-opted members who have expertise in cultural and inter-cultural matters, who have been appointed by the Commission as consultants.
